Chanel Strong and the perils of not being ambidextrous

Looking through my drawers of polish one will notice a large number of deep plums, reds and browns. I tend to gravitate towards these colors. (The next largest group of polishes is holographics). I am simply not a pink-type girl, and while I will occasionally rock the green, silver or blue polish, I have determined that pastels are just not my cup of tea. Will I keep trying them? Oh, yes. Because I don't learn.

So while diving into my rows of dark colors I realize that I recently purchased Chanel Strong from the Soho collection. The color is a deep, dark nearly black plum cream base with a smattering of purple microshimmer. Move it just right in the light and the shimmer will shine bright purple. Time for a manicure.

This was one of the best polishes I've used recently. It was a tad bit on the thick side, but really easy to work with. It was nearly opaque on one coat. I only used two coats for this with a top coat of Seche Vite, and it looked really nice.

I was trying to get the shimmer

I simply don't have the ability to grow nails much longer than this. Once a hint of a white tip shows, the nailuverse decides that it's time to break, crack or peel. This pinky fingernail is getting dangerously close to break time. It's all good because I like to wear darker colors, and darker colors seem to look better on nubbins.

After I do my nails, my left hand usually looks very nice. I'm right-handed so that makes sense, right? But I can't go around with just my left hand polished, so I have to fumble around and try to make my right hand look nice. I usually attempt a clean-up after polishing, but my right hand always ends up looking like this:

Ahhhhh... frightening

I usually find that after I wash my hands and wet the cuticles, the polish comes off very easily and my manicure looks good again.

Oh, would I love to be ambidextrous.

  1. I love Chanel polish. So far I splurged on two... the price is a bit on the high side. And lol... I have the same issue, left hand always lovely... right hand leaves something to be desired... I hope practice makes perfect :)

  2. Lucy - the first one I got was Paradoxal - and I had to go to a few stores to find it (before they began restocking it). I've been hooked ever since!
